Standing up would be the best, though if your plants are on the ground then can lay then all around. Huh, that rhymes.

My cephalotus is that color, too. Maybe its just a thing small cephalotus' have. I dunno. Though if my plant is a heterophylla then that would be awesome!

Trash bags are formulated to biodegrade in landfills. You should use the plastic sheeting designed for pond liners. I know, but the soil here is very acidic. We even have S.Oreophila here! ;D I can't wait 'till spring. I'll have to post pics. But the main idea is that they adjust to the soil. Good Growing, ieat100s

I just got a TON of plants and I need to know how to make a bog garden.
My idea was to dig a hole, put trash-bags as the lining, put in the soil, and put in the plants.
Please anyone tell me if my idea should be.......adjusted.
Thanks.

By the way you might not be able to grow D. Scrorpiodes in your bog, because it mainly can't go under 45 degrees. Really? My scorpioides plants experience temps near freezing each winter with no ill effects. I wonder how cold they can actually take. At least thats what I read.

What plants are you going to put in? Some plants are more tolerate than others. Certain plants have a drought and others have floods in the wild. And the answer to your main question, just observe your plants. If they're yellow and floppy, then they're overwatered. If they're croaking and droopy, they're underwatered. I hope these answered your questions.
