I've started my 7th bog garden. This one starts out with some S. purpurea ssp. venosa var. montana. I got these beauts from Ebay. I meant to buy only one, but accidentally bid on two.

Sort of related to outdoors bogs: I found this neat Wardian case on Craigslist: Some of my hardier nephs (maybe just the one) will live in there.

how do you keep it all terraced and prevent the media from all ending up in the well and seeking its own level?

how do you keep it all terraced and prevent the media from all ending up in the well and seeking its own level? I reinforce the edge of the terrace with long fiber sphagnum and as ghetto as it sounds, I also use broken shingles - which are thin pieces of wood to create barriers that allow me to terrace parts of the bogs.

July update: I told myself I had enough CPs but every time I go to California Carnivores, I end up getting something new. At least the list of 'to get' things is getting smaller. Two new bogs this year: The denizens of this bog are (from left to right): Sarracenia alata x minor Sarracenia x "June Bug" (behind alata x minor) Sarracenia x "Hummer's Hammerhead (not clearly seen) Sarracenia minor "Okee Giant" (doubtful. Looks introgressed) Sarracenia rubra var. gulfensis Sarracenia rubra var. alabamensis Sarracenia x "Cobra Nest" July update: I told myself I had enough CPs but every time I go to California Carnivores, I end up getting something new. Even as some of my sarracenias are retiring for the year like S. oreophila, others like this S. alata are starting to put out their pitcher crops:

S. rosea? According to Peter D'Amato, it is. I've yet to see its flower though so it's still up in the air. Nevertheless, a very nice specimen of S. purpurea ssp venosa.

Bog 7 has a large number of rubras and rubra crosses: Sarracenia rubra ssp wherryi Sarracenia rubra ssp jonesii Sarracenia x "Hummer's Hammerhead" And in another bog (1) we find Dana's Delight starting to show off as fall approaches: ...just as some Sarracenia are retiring for the year like this S. oreophila:

Just days from November, this Sarracenia Flava puts out a late season flower: A memory of spring? Or maybe a prelude to it. ... However as per Aidan's suggestion, it's coming off.
