Does anyone have an idea how to start S.minor 'Okefenokee' from seed? I was thinking I should start them outdoors in Jan, here in Florida, because it should be cool enough for them to start.
I appreciate any replies.
Thank you, Ricky Haag

Hi Ricky! In my opinion, Fl. weather is kind of unpredictable as far as supplying a steady, constant cold temperature required to stratify Sarracenia seed. I always store mine in the fridge for 4 to 6 wks before sowing them. I prefer to roll them up in a slightly damp piece of paper towel and put them in a small zip lock-style plastic bag. Then, just chill and serve! {i mean, plant!} ;D Brian, also in Central Fl.

The paper towel method is a great way of doing it.
If you stratify them during winter you can have them ready to plant out at the start of spring when they would naturally start to germinate.
I usually mix a bit of Fongorid in the water I use to wet the towel to guard against mould attacking the seeds.

Thank you Dave. I did want to start during the winter months, and then put them out in spring will help the natural process.

Just a note, the larger plants from Okefenekee aren't cultivars, so no need for quotes.
Correct term is either S. minor, Okefenokee or S. minor var. okeefenokeesis.
