For some reason this request never made it to the CPListServe, problem with my header or something-
Subject: Tall pitchers needed (not the whole plant) It's that time of year where many of us cut back our Sarracenia. Would any one be willing to share their spent pitchers with me please? I'm not asking for your plants, just your dried up old crunchy pitchers. I could use about 300 of them. The catch is that I need them filled with bugs. I'd like to be able to use them to pass out to members of groups. Idealistically, I'd like each and every participant to be able to have their own pitcher to cut open to be able to view the contents. It may not sound all that exciting to us because we've seen the "goods" before but to those who have never seen a tall pitcher plant before, it is a considerable amount of fun. If you live in the continental United States and if you are in a position to send me your pitchers as opposed to tossing them in a dumpster or composter, I would be very appreciative. I would be more than happy to reimburse for postage via PayPal. Many thanks if there is anyone in a position to share spent Sarracenia pitchers with me.
Please PM if you are in a position to share.

Bumping for selfish reasons.
If there is ANYONE out there east of the rockies who is in a position to share spent pitchers with me I would be very appreciative. Actually, I'm sort of begging right about now. I will gladly pay for what every box you have to buy to ship them to me plus the cost of shipping them to me.
I have gone through virtually all that I personally had doing workshops for kid and seniors and have one sorry little paper bag left of approximately 25 spent tall pitchers that might cover one more group providng there are no empty duds in the bag- that upsets kids when they slice their pitcher open and get a big zip nadda nothing inside. Needless to say, I always need a few spares to be able to pass out for the participants that get duds. I've got a school of 5th graders out there (three classrooms with more than 20 kids in each class) and not one but two more groups of seniors at anywhere from about 15 to over 25 in a group left to visit. That doesn't count the handful of groups that wanted to do something next spring.

Hi pinglover, I can send you some. Most look like it's black mush inside this time of year, hopefully there will be some recognizable carcasses. Last month I did a sarracenia dissection with my son's 1st grade class, they sure like picking out all the dead bodies. They were mesmerized by feeding pinhead crickets to the VFTs. PM me the address and I'll get them out.

Thank you very kindly JoAnn, you just coverd one of the fifth grade classes at that school.
And yes, the grosser the better for kids and evidently for seniors too. They absolutely love picking out all the dead bodies, even the older women which surprised me. We've been finding a bumper crop of European paper wasps. Have you ever seen people poking their fingers in the bottoms of chocolates in a candy box? Sort of the same deal- "Oh lookie what I've got, it's a ladybug". "No way", "Yes, way". "Well I've got a grasshopper so top that". "No way" "Yes way" "Cool, whadugot?". "I got an idon'tknow"....
I must admit it's funny to listen to them comparing who has what and if somebody gets something that nobody else has, they all gather around in a tight knit little lump of humans to see. Cute.
