That's a great sequence of pictures. Also, I'm curious about the pitcher... Looks like a cross between oreophila and minor. Is it?

No. It is Sarracenia alata - Black/Red - #9501. The pitchers start out green with heavy veining and after time they darken up to this.

Hence the wasp, I guess. They say that Alata has a tendency - more than others - to attract wasps. I wonder if others have observed this.

Did the wasp fall in? I didn't know the plant could catch insects so big!
