I suppose it would work. The real question is how cost effective (e.g. cost per gallon) it is.

I don't think it's very energetically efficient. It should work but maybe it's easier to get water from other sources. All depends on the amount of plants you have.
But fo rthis price you can get a reverse osmosis system, but watch out if it has a mineralisation filter, that's not good for the plants but is for you. Maybe without this last filer you won't be able to drink this water....
