I am posting this as a way to gather information on how to sprout my newly acquired B. 'Goliath' x guehoi seeds. Since I do not ahve any gibberellic acid or other germination helping products, I am wondering if anyone has tried using scarification for the harder to germinate Byblis, and whether it works. I'm a newbie with this genus, so any help is appreciated. ;D

I don't have gibberellic acid either, but I have used the bleach method with good success to germinate B liniflora. About 1-2 weeks ago I tried it on the cross you mentioned (as well as B guehoi) from the ICPS seed bank and so far have no germination, unfortunately. I have not tried scarification.

I have had success with light scarification, but you must be careful since the seeds are quite small. Use a good pair of forceps to grip the seed and scrape very gently... Brian

What concentrations of GA3 are people using, and how long are you letting the seeds soak? I got some of these seeds as well.

FYI It's been about a month since I planted them post-bleach treatment and only one of five B. 'Goliath' x guehoi seeds have germinated, but it seems to be growing fast.

Still no germination. I have recently attempted a form of smokewater treatment, so we'll see how that works. If it doesn't, does anyone happen to have B. 'Goliath' seeds?

Interesting.
I'll gladly send you some in about a month. Mine plants should be flowering soon, along with B. 'Goliath' X B. 'David'.

Both of those would definitely be interesting to see side by side. I've heard the GxD is very vigorous too.

I am happy to say that, while it is only one, I do have a B. 'Goliath' x guehoi sprout. Hopefully it will survive, and hopefully I can see at some point in the future if backcrosses are possible, like with B 'Goliath'.
