It's nearly two weeks until October and my CPs are beyond happy in their new window sill enjoying the Midwest heat. Apparently their enjoying it so much my Drosera Spathulata is growing like mad and my poor little Pinguicula Primuliflora decided to sprout a flower. Just this morning the flower was standing up fully erect by itself and now it's drooping a little but I'm assuming that's due to the sun setting earlier than usual.
Until I got them their new sill about two months ago they were growing a bit poorly and now they act like it's early summer. However, in my area we only get to enjoy a small period of fall before all of a sudden it's winter. Usually around Halloween or before in some cases. Would it have been best if I had cut it off so it could save its energy for winter or should I just leave it to try to pollinate it?

like you want ;D
P.primuliflora is a subtropical specie from the south-east US (floride-alabama-mississipi) ,
She does not like the winters well marked (snow, ice, frozen)

My primuliflora is EXTREMELY happy. I got it about 8 months ago and it has produced lots of pups and has been nonstop flowering for at least 4 months. At the moment there are 3 spent bloom stalks, 2 just past prime, and 2 buds emerging from the rosette. I'll post a pic. Attachments:

Yeah I probably should have mentioned my conditions. It's growing indoors in a terrarium placed against a south-facing window. From time to time I feed it crushed blood worms (fish food). I just divided all those pups off the main plant last night. I fed them today and realized there were more pups hiding under the leaves... but I'll leave them alone for now. This will be my first winter to try to overwinter them. I'm in the midwest, like you.

Thanks everyone.
My pings babies died though since I didn't take the small ones from under the parent's leaves. Though now that it's finished flowering it looks like my ping is starting to turn brown. Is this normal? The flower stalk looks healthy and so do my other CPs. Even the new leaves that are popping up are a little brown on the edges.

Shoot. I'm been watering it the same as before the stalk flowered. I guess that might have been why most of the leaves are browning and getting wrinkles in them. Here's a pic though detail isn't that good since the plant is really tiny. Thanks for the help.

That was unfortuanetely the best photo I could provide but I am positive it is a P. Primuliflora. The flower was a regular violet whitish color though it's to wilted now to tell. It did come from a nursery in California which was probably why it lasted so long.
I attempted giving it less water like you suggested and its seemed to have worked. The new leaves are coming out a healthy green though it'll probably take a while to recover.

It's in this CP soil mix I ordered from Petflytrap during the summer that I've been using with my plants.

it is easy to grow them ( if it is a primuliflora) just in a sphagnum alive or in a mix of river sand (70-80%) + blond peat ( the rest) .

what kind of water are you using? i'm using "pure" water from my dehumidifier. tap water is supposed to be bad for pings. i've never heard of primuliflora suffering from too much water. in the wild it's often submerged. but i'm not an expert... i've only been growing mine for a few months.

if it is a primuliflora , yes no problem with the water but may be with the substrate jeff
