Hello guys. I'm growing this fascinating species since a couple of years, but it doesn't thrive. Could you give me some tips about its cultivation (best soil, best temperatures, best lighting)?

Hello,
It is probably the easiest one in its section within Utricularia.
It is a highland species, so it does like cool nights and not particularly hot days. It also grows in a very seasonal pattern, only expanding in size part of the year. I cultivate it in a living Sphagnum hummock and they do great. However, it only puts up a couple of leaves a year--which is normal.
If the conditions seem correct, but the plant continues to grow poorly, you might need to give it some orchid fertilizer which is designed with senstive plant in mind and will not burn most CP's.

It is probably the easiest one in its section within Utricularia. Hi Dave, While I'll readily admit that my experience with section Orchidiodes is quite meager, U. alpina has consistently been the most prolific in my conditions. So far, my plants have also grown better in pure LFS than in other media combinations. They have also grown better in netpots than in conventional pots with solid sides - it appears that they have a strong desire to avoid any hint of anaerobic conditions in their media. For anyone interested in sharing info on plants within section Orchidioides, feel free to join us in this thread.
