news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7753322.stmSlighty off-topic-ish but of interest to cp fans - I remember watching the 80's version - but I must have been 6 or something (what were my parents allowing me to watch it for at that age! lol) Triffids is being remade for BBC tv - I can't wait! Its been a long time since the last CP film I can think of being Little Shop of Horrors - unless anyone can correct me! Paul

The Day of the Triffids was one of the books I studied (many years ago now) for English Literature O'Level. What a great book, and I was never really impressed with how the TV show and film turned out. I hope they do it justice this time!!

The 1981 television adaptation has long been considered as very faithful to the book version.
The BBC has done 4 or 5 radio adaptations of the story over the decades. I doubt the current television remake will have much new to offer other than CGI effects.

The 1981 television adaptation has long been considered as very faithful to the book version. Maybe so, but I found the acting a little wooden, and there was a serious lack of tension and sense of forboding that one would have expected from world changing events such as occur in the book. And let's not even mention the papier mache triffids! ;D
