Hello, I've got some really big P. esseriana I know that there is a giant form on the market, but I doubt if that's real. My species is more then 4 centimetres across. We have the plants almost 20 years, and last year I repotted them in pure spagnum. 2 photo's:

I believe that size in Mexican Pinguicula may often be attributable simply to nutrient availability. I use a largely mineral based mix, but incorporate a small proportion of a loam based compost that includes fertiliser (ground limestone, hoof and horn meal, superphosphate, potassium sulphate)... and boy do they grow! ;D
Plants of the size in the photos and larger are easily achievable.

What kind of pot do you have it in? It looks really interesting... I've been making promises to myself to buy this species, because they look so fantastic at Cascade Carnivores. But yours look different. Would you say that yours is probably a more accurate depiction of what this species looks like in cultivation?

@ unstuckintime: No it surely isn't, it is in winter rosette now, and living in pure spagnum. Normally Pinguicula don't like that, but prefer a little more minerals in the soil.
Thanks Aidan, I know, but I was just testing the effects on growing it in pure spagnum. I have seen earlier with a "Fake weser" that the plant grew much bigger, than in the normal peat/sand mix.
