I'm considering attempting to put together a get together in Michigan. I have a specific location in mind. It has: - Camping:
- Rustic $12.00 per night
- Modern $26.00 per night
- Group use $2.00 per person per night <--- I need to learn more about it.
- Covers 31500 acres <--- I'm looking at a small area in comparison. actually it is two but only divided to make management simpler.
- Unknown length of trails and paths.<--- the area I have in mind even has flora placards.
- Discovery center
- Natural museum
- A trail that ends at a pier extending into a bog.<-- for those incapable of getting down and dirty.
Besides the obvious activities like show, trade and touring, I was thinking about things like a Digicam scavenger hunt and proving they have more CP's (I found U. gibba) then they know about. It is more like the condition of Michigan's state forests, not at all like most of the recreation area's I'm use to. You know the type, stomped down, beaten flat and hunted to death. I'd Like to hear opinions, ideas and advice.

Hi alec,
Would you happen to know what Sleepy Hollow State Park looks like these days?
~~~~~ Corrected for spelling.
What area are you referring to? I'm in White Lake - not too far from you.
I'm not sure if I want to post such a specific location. I have given enough info that it could be found but people would have to leave the kind of trail that I did in doing so. I don't want to be the cause of another I-75 Ghost Orchid incident.
What I plan to do if every thing works out is pay for an add in the Journal making the announcement as to where and when.
I might be interested. I went to Sleepy Hollow three years or so ago...it seemed nice enough, if well traversed by people. I didn't know there were bogs there.
I know of a couple other bogs in mid-Michigan. I have a feeling one of them may be the site you're referring to. Either way, I'd love to check it out.
