Hello. I am thinking of ordering some U. purpurea & some U. tricolor from Meadowview Biological. The U. purpurea I am planning to keep in our greenhouse in a appr. mix of 1 cup peat per 1 gal. of water & the U. tricolor in the house in a windowsill in a bowl of water with LFS. Any other suggestions from members who have experience growing these 2 would be very appreciated. Most of our experience is with Neps. & Sarrs. Thanks, Mary

You can expect the U. tricolor to do very well, and you can anticipate the U. purpurea will probably die.
I don't have suggestions for how to grow the latter; every time someone has sent me some live, it arrived in a rotten state. The stuff decays EXTREMELY rapidly in transit.

Barry, Thanks for the info. I think I should wait on the U. purpurea & just go with the U. tricolor for now. I do not have alot of experience with Utrics. & I am not going to get a plant that is difficult to start with. Mary

Mary If you are looking for a utric that you can't kill (well i haven't yet which says something) go with u.gibba...it isn't impressive but it is hard to kill......as long as you give it water and a bowl to grow in it will do very well
