Hey Folks,
The following information was sent to me by Isao Takai, who is a world expert on the cultivation of Byblis.
------------------
Byblis guehoi (pronounced gay-ho-eye)
Byblis guehoi Lowrie & Conran was published in Telopea 12 (1): 2008.
Byblis guehoi was named after Russ Guého, a biologist, author, wildlife photographer and teacher from Broome who first collected the new taxon.
Byblis guehoi is a more cold tolerant species than other tropical Byblis taxa.
Byblis guehoi is a very beautiful species, the glands covering the stem and leaves are very dense, having more than twice as many glands than Byblis filifolia.
In my cultivation, Byblis guehoi branches at a much earlier stage than other tropical Byblis species and produces a most attractive bushy plant.

Dear God, It's beautiful! It looks as if it's covered in ice, or sugar!
I hope this species isn't tricky to germinate. If it was as easy and prolific as B. liniflora, I think I'd have a new favorite plant. Do you know if it produces enzymes?
Can't wait until we can all grow this plant. IMO, it's the most beautiful of all Byblis. It's really magnificent. Would you happen to know where the branching starts, because I can only see singular stalks.

Such a breathtaking plant. I hope it will be widespread in cultivation in the near future.

Very cool indeed...It looks like a mass grouping of B. filifolia, but flowering looks more prolific. Nice! Brian.

Oh, do you mean that all the photo's are of the same plant? That's VERY fast. According to Isao Takai, the 5 photos are of 5 different plants. Today, Isao Takai sent 4 additional photos, with the following information (which I edited slightly). ---------------------- Answer to questions of members, I sowed Byblis guehoi seeds on April 12th, 2006. The plants (in yesterday’s photos above) were after heavily branched plants (branches from main stem and branches from first branches). Those photos were taken in August 2006. The 5 photos were of 5 different plants to show the variations from same location. There was only one plant in each pot. The photos below (8 & 13) were taken on June 17th 2006. This plant is the same plant as yesterday’s first photo. Please see the tallest main stem. Photo 8Photo 13Byblis guehoi is a very floriferous species, as is Byblis filifolia. To compare Byblis guehoi branching with that of Byblis filifolia, please compare photos 8 & 13 of B. guehoi (above) with the typical branching of Byblis filifolia (photos 5 & 6 below). This B. filifolia plant is a pink flower, smaller plant variation (smaller than Pago Giant). Photo 5Photo 6Anyway, the 4 photos show that for branching, there is no need for any pinching.

Greetings from Switzerland! Here's a few pics of Byblis Guehoi that I've grown that also branch at an early stage without pinching or any hormone treatment. I think I like this species very much!
