I have been growing Pinguiculas esseriana, john x rizzi, and a moranensis for about a year and i cannot remember the last time i saw their flowers, is it a matter of lighting? I just mved the in a new terrarium with brighter light in hopes of flowering , is there perhaps a way to coax them into flowering sooner? as of right now they are under a 30 W bulb i believe about 4" and the lights go on about 7 am and off around 11 pm is the photoperiod too long for them ? plus i keep the soil always wet , but should i let the pots dry more before wattering again?

Hi! You might want to let them have a cool shot of weather... When my Pings act "stubborn", a small drop in temp usually will entice them to flower. Also, you may try shortening your photoperiod a bit, down to 12 hrs. Plus, in my opinion, a 30 watt bulb is not enough light. Try two 40watt fluorescents. Happy Growing, Brian.

I agree with Brian. I grow those Pings in my unheated greenhouse and they flower more or less continuously in response to changes in both temperature and photoperiod. My night-time temps get into the mid 30s F and the Pings have been flowering all winter.
