Figure it'd be good to have a discussion on how people grow their plants indoors so that ideas can be exchanged and environments could be improved. I have a High Land Chamber with a seperate lower level for Temperates, a Low Land Chamber and a Cool-Growing Terrarium. The Terrarium is a 75 Gallon Fish Tank with 3, 2-bulb T8 fixtures from Home Depot with Cool Lights in em. Has Panda Film for Reflective Backing. I use various bits of White Plastic Lids & Containers from Food Storage Containers in the Supermarket as well as Storage Bins from Hardware Stores and Stores like Target to elevate some of them closer to the lights. For Temp, I just have the Tank under a Window in my basically Unheated Kitchen which works quite well for me as it gives me a Seasonal Range of Temperatures. The whole Apartment is well shaded in the Summertime keeping the Temps lower. Here's a Pic: I'll post Pics and Descriptions of the other Chambers when I get the chance. In the meantime, it'd be cool to see how everyone else grows their plants

Your standard lowland 75 gallon tank. Lit by one, 250 watt 5,500K metal halide, small pink circulating fan. It's got a titanium heater in the water in the off chance it drops below 70 degrees.

Oooh, both very nice setups! I'm gonna have to get me one of those since some of my tropical pitcher plants are simply refusing to put up pitchers in the very dry San Jose, CA air. I'm thinking of going with one of these wardian type terrariums: www.terrariumsale.com/Anyone have thoughts on them?

Thanks. Most of us use fish tanks since those Wardian cases are so small (and expensive for the larger ones!). Wardian cases are really more for decoration than practicality.
Just get the absolute biggest one you can because you'll regret it. I wish I had gotten a 120 gallon lol.

Those could cook plants indoors in sunlight. These are expensive, I have one I used for a few years that's in storage for the time being.. www.dragonagro.com/dapsuppl.htm#OrchidariumNepenthes do outgrow those quickly. Chambers and Grow Racks are a good way to grow larger plants or more of them.

It was from some hydroponics place online.. I made sure it didn't have "hydroponics" in the company's name either cause I don't wanna raise any eyebrows.. I forget the name of the place but do a search and something should pop up.
