Hello all
I guess many of us who don't have direct access to a university library will have the same problem as me, if they are looking for the plant publications/descriptions, to find out about their habitat and growing conditions.
Why don't we put the publications of carnivorous plants all on the ICPS website so everyone who is interested can check them out?
Of course, there might be questions about copyright, but I think there are quite a few members of the ICPS who have described species e.g. Nepenthes, Heliamphoras or Droseras and if they agree, we would have quite a bit of CP descriptions(publications) on the net. Also there have been quite a few descriptions been published in the ICPN, which I think could be easily scanned and put in the forum?
I could make a start, since I know Dr. Rudolf Schmid-Hollinger, who has described Nepenthes masoalensis. I have talked to him an he does not mind, if I would scan his publication and would put it on this website. Although this publication is written in french, this homepage is an international homepage after all and there is certainly french speaking people surfing on this site as well and probably willing, to translate this publication as well in to english?
If you agree and we get a couple of publications/descriptions, where should we post it (eg. to each species or doing a new topic like plant publications/descriptions?)
There are also a few descriptions on the web (e.a. in Blumea) and can be seen by erveryone. Since on the latest descriptions there are many times no exact localities mentioned, there is also no danger of poaching plants due to this.
Well what do you think about this suggestion?
