Want to go looking for cp's advice

I live in Australia NSW and am thinking of going looking for drosera pygmaea because from my limited knowledge its a pygmy so grows in winter which it is here. There has been a pretty severe drought for a while but this june has been the wettest in 50 years so the plants are probably going nuts. The location im going to go looking is in wollongong and i know they should be there because of this website just fill in the form then open the map if you want.

its a government website so should be accurate the last sighting of the plants in the area i plan to go to was 17/12/2000
any advice would be appreciated and hopefully i will have pictures soon to put on the forums

G'day, get yourself a topographic map they will show all your water courses, they are the areas to look around.

All I can really suggest is open wet areas with low growing grass, try around seeps near the beach, they usually hold Drosera binata tho the species is rare. I find that you usually find pygmaea in slightly dryer areas than were Drosera spatulata grows, try around other cp species like Drosera spatulata,burmannii,auriculata, Utricularia lateriflora.

Keep in mind this species is VERY small, around about the size of your index finger nail.

Greg Bourke is a local to wollongong, if you can get into touch with him he will show you all the cp sites in the area and if you are lucky his huge collection.

Re the wildlife atlas, I used that to find my first patch of Drosera binata up here that was last recorded in 1985 so it is a good resorce.
