Hi Folks:
We're all getting very excited about Crossfest and will have our program on-line in a couple days. We will have two different Aldrovanda t-shirts for sale (Meadowview has one and the other produced by the Carolina Carnivorous Plant Society). If you want to attend, make sure you register. While we won't turn you away if you just show up at the door, we would really appreciate it if you register so we have some idea who is attending.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
We have a series of events coming up at Meadowview which has recently been uploaded to the ICPS events link, our web page, and FaceBook. Events include a talk by Christian Dietz and Clause-Juergen Lenz at Meadowview on Friday June 14 about CP of western Australia, a Joseph Pines tour on June 15, Crossfest on June 29, and another Joseph Pines Preserve tour on July 15. All of these events require a registration if you want to attend. I hope you can make one of these events. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Apoplast:
Why don't you come to Crossfest 2013 and examine all these interesting Aldrovanda issues with us? Our Aldrovanda is pollinated by small bees and sets seed so we are very excited to look at this when Adam visits in late June.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Our new prospectus about the Joseph Pines Preserve is available on our website at www.pitcherplant.org/The-Joseph-Pines-Preserve/index.html. Click on the pdf in the section about "The Center for Biodiversity". There's a lot to read there but if we're asking for $1.9 million dollars we better have a good plan. Hi Folks: We continue to receive registrations for Crossfest 2013 and are getting more and more excited about the event. Don't forget to register if you want to attend. Registration is found on our web site at www.pitcherplant.org. There is a very convenient hotel to the symposium (couple blocks walking distance) in downtown Bowling Green called Bowling Green Suites (http://bgsuites.com/). I suggest you make reservations now if you want a place to stay. There is also camping available (primitive, RV, or small cottage) at the nearby Hidden Acres campground (http://www.hiddenacresva.com/). Finally, a very few primitive campsites are available to selected guests on the Central Virginia Preserve. If you want to camp on the preserve please make arrangements now. The event will span two days - one day for the talks and vendor sales and the second day (Sunday) with tours of Meadowview, the Central VA Preserve, and John Hummers refuge. Look forward to seeing you the weekend of June 29. Sincerely, Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks: You can now register to attend Crossfest 2013 on our website at www.pitcherplant.org. Even though we aren't charging to attend we do ask that you register within 30 days of the conference so we have some idea of the number, and interest, of folks attending. Adam Cross has now booked his flight so we're all looking forward to his arrival and some really interesting discussions about Aldrovanda. Sincerely, Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
We've posted the announcement for "Crossfest 2013!" on the ICPS EVENTS link and have paid the rental deposit on Town Hall. Is there anyone out there that wants to secure a vendor booth or who would like to speak about Aldrovanda please contact me. We will also be providing tours of the Central Virginia Preserve.

Hi Folks:
We're laying the groundwork for Adam Cross' research visit to Meadowview in late June and early July of 2013. We're planning on Adam giving a talk on his Aldrovanda work but would like to expand this into a mini-symposium/plant show. Is there any interest by any vendors in setting up a booth for this event or is anyone else interested in speaking (hopefully focused on Aldrovanda but doesn't have to be). Who would be interested in attending?
The event is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of June 29th and we're not planning on charging for the event - free admission. Look forward to your input.
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks:
Thanks to the ICPS grant, we received a large match from an Australian group headed by Adam Cross, as well as supplemental donations from several other folks like Jacobo Rozo, and paid off the Central VA Preserve note on the 3 acres Nov. 27. Thank you very much for your help!!!
We are constantly raising money for more land acquisition and still need to raise the rest of the match for the VLCF grant for additional land at the Central VA Preserve, as well as paying our loan on the Joseph Pines expansion (details on our 2012 newsletter, about to be updated with a few details such as this).
The ICPS philanthropy has been generous and we thank you very much. If you work for a large company, they may have matching donations to employee gifts to non-profits, so you might want to take a look and see what might be available.
Happy Holidays!!!
Sincerely,
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station

Hi Folks: Thanks to the impetus given to us by the ICPS grant we now have only $576 left to pay on the Central Virginia Preserve note. An Australian group basically matched the ICPS grant and we've had several other donors contribute this week. Who wants to finish the job? Donations accepted on our web site at www.pitcherplant.org. THANK YOU!!! Sincerely, Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. Director Meadowview Biological Research Station
