Welcome Kalimah. I'm a new member too. I don't consider myself an expert. I have been successful in keeping VFT so far. I just put mine in winter storage in the refrigerator Friday night. I'll repot in March sometime.

I bought a S. leucophylla this year. It's my second. The first died one winter along with other Sarracenia hybrids. They were kept in my unheated detached garage. They did freeze at maybe 10F or so for a week maybe.
I read they are native further south than VFT. My logic said I should try going for winter dormancy in the same way I do for VFT: Remove from pot and store in moist Peat Moss in a closed plastic bag in the refrigerator. I did this Friday night. I have done it for VFT for a few years now.
So, what comments do you all have? Have I totally blown it and sacrificed my plant? Do I have a chance of success?

The Mid-Atlantic Carnivorous Plant Society (MACPS) www.macpsociety.com/ is currently in a start-up phase and we are seeing some pretty good interest so far. We have had two meetings so far. The first was held on Sat June 17, 2017 at the Carnivorous Plant Nursery in Smithburg, MD. The second was held on Sat Sept. 30, 2017 at Millersville University, Lancaster area, PA. In each of these meetings, lunch was provided and some very informative talks were presented. The meeting ended with a plant auction, with plants provided by attendees and the Carnivorous Plant Nursery. Proceeds go towards defraying the cost of lunch and website expenses. We are still in the start-up phase and would be glad to see any Mid-Atlantic CP enthusiasts at the meetings, and to have you volunteer for the Steering Committee and Incorporation Search Committee. Our next meeting will be held at Princeton University on Sat Jan 13, 2018. To get included on the email list where meeting announcements are sent out, email Kevin Z. at macpsociety@gmail.com . You do need to pre-register so we can order enough for lunch for you. Remember to bring cash or a credit card to participate in the auction. This is the most recent annoucement: Hello all, We hope you'll be able to join us at the 3rd MACPS meeting on Saturday, January 13 at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ. There will be another fun set of talks, a seed starting workshop, a plant auction at the end, and importantly, details about all of our other events planned for 2018 (a field trip is in the works!). If you are interested in coming, please RSVP via this form. Please also pass the word on about this meeting to any of your friends who might be interested in coming! The plant auction at the end is a great way to not only show off your plants, but also get some money for them. You can take home all the money you get from auctioning your plants, or choose to donate a certain percentage of the sales towards future MACPS meetings and events. We also always encourage you to bring your plants to display! Best, Kevin

Hi all. Just joining, but have been aware of ICPS for a few years I started with CP maybe 8 years ago with common plants: VFT, Sarracenia purpurea and hybrids, sundews. I'm down to those that can be kept outdoors in our cold winters or stored in the refrig. But I did just buy a Cephalotus last Saturday. My other interests: Aquatic Gardening, I'm an active member of the New Jersey Aquatic Gardening Club. Terrestrial Gardening, mainly garlic now.
