You would also do well to buy either d'Amato's book or Rice's book (maybe both). Both will provide you with a good basis for cultivating your CPs. This will save you from a lot of grief.

Gentlemen and Gentleladies (is this the correct term?) I thought the idea of a forum like this is to encourage questions and have growers respond, I think the above links are great, talking to experienced growers is even better in my opinion; I think we need to help each other and keep the formun user friendly regards ed

Hello, That "blue form" is not U. sandersonii, but appears to be about half U. sandersonii. Check: www.rci.rutgers.edu/~dpevans/U_sandersoniiXU_livida.htmIt doesn't flower anywhere as often as U. sandersonii, which flowers just about year 'round. This hybrid or species tends to flower in the late winter and spring with several to many flowers. In the off seasons there might be a few flowers which pop up now then. Yes, they are almost always single flowers on very short scapes, but I have seen up to three on one flower stalk.

mine flowered at the beginning of december. i just got a stalk with a single flower on it a few weeks ago. i guess it varies? unlike the regular, form the stalks are really short. about an inch on mine then the first bloom pops open.

you can collect some pond water keep it in a container mixed with mostly distilled water and after several days add some of that water to the pot....it should contain some aquatic insects that will be cought by the roots of the utrics
