Hello
Does it matter what season Nepenthes are potted based on my below situation? I have some mature plants to pot and no cuttings. Currently it is the start of winter, however, my average winter screen temperatures range from 12°C to 22°C in winter but we do get frost rarely. However, I have them in a greenhouse that I hope to heat to a minimum of 10°C. The winter greenhouse range should therefore be between 10°C and 35°C.
I have a lot of ventricosa and ventrata. Others include, maxima, hirsuta x spathulata, miranda gentle, sibuyanensis, lantern, ventricosa x truncata, konak, albomarginata x veitchii, marble dragon, black dragon, edwardsiana, black night and gothica.
We have a lot of calcium in the water here. However, from now on I plan to use rain water when available. Therefore, my potting mix may have a lot of calcium in it and it is a bit old. I also over misted the plants in places as I have an automatic mister to help raise humidity and cool the greenhouse. However, there has been some leaks in the pipes and the mist has been uneven so many of the plants have been kept very wet from the mist. As a result, the plants have suffered so it may be best to pot as soon as possible. I plan to fix the mist system soon and put a rotating mister in there for even coverage.
Roots may be small and mostly rotten on some of the plants due to their health. So I wonder if I should pot them now or if I should wait till spring?
Regards Richard.
