Utricularia longifolia “multi-flowered scape” Araponga, Minas Gerais state, Brazil When Fernando-san was studying abroad at the University of Tokyo, he kindly gave me a lot of Brazilian cp seeds. The seeds are 20+ years old now. I sowed one of them on February 19, 2021. I confirmed the germination of a couple of seeds on April 20th. The photo was taken on April 25th. The final germination rate may not be very good. But I can see some other seeds that the insides of them have turned green color, I expect them to germinate. I will post this progress here. Maybe I will sow other Utricularia species seeds he gave me as well. I will post about them here if they germinate. The seeds were stored in the refrigerator, so this may not be a rare case, though it is very interesting to me. Kind regards from the Far East P.S. I soaked the seeds in 1000ppm GA3 (gibberellic acid) solution for 24hrs.

Wow, very interesting, you usually hear that utricularia seed are as perishable as nepenthes are.

Dear Coline-san, Konnichiwa! In the Kanto region of Japan, where I live, there were two cases of germination of lotus seeds, which are supposed to be excavated from a very old stratum. It is believed to be a stratum about 2000 years ago. I'm not familiar with these cases, but I presume that the seeds of those lotuses were much older than 20 years because they were different from the current varieties. Of course, lotus seeds are very sturdy. I believe the viability of Utricularia humboldtii (and relatives) seeds are very short. The inside of the seed is already a seedling. It will require advanced techniques to improve this, development of a new technology. However, in the case of other species, I believe that you guys' diligent research can extend the shelf life. Kind regards from the Far East P.S. Regarding Nepenthes seeds Please go to: How old is too old?N_CloudySkies-san said “I think viability among most all nepenthes seeds is a lot longer than what we may think and have / may read.”

Yes, in TC some seeds do survive as the degradation elements are outside, but for some reason in Utricularia seed, not even with fresh seeds I have been able to grow them. But Nepenthes seed I have been able to rescue some even with 6-9 months old using AG3 in the medium

Update: Utricularia longifolia “multi-flowered scape” Araponga, Minas Gerais state, Brazil The photos were taken on May 25th. There are seeds that are likely to germinate from now on, but they will not be able to be separated, so I would transplant them. In the first place I didn't count how many seeds I had sown, so it's not appropriate to mention germination rates. But to put it bluntly, I'm satisfied. There are still a lot of seeds because I just sown a part of the packet. Then I would like to pick up seeds that look decent appearance and examine the germination rate.

Very nice shots. Continue to celebrate the photography Dear Patriciahanson-san, Konnichiwa! Thank you, but that's not true. Please take a look at the second photo in this thread. If I had shot it from the right distance or done setting correctly, the distortion wouldn't have been noticeable. When I was using a film camera, I was particular about various settings, but now I just release the shutter without thinking properly. I don't know if it's because of my age or using a digital camera. Although the one I took the above photos was a compact digital camera, I can get close to the subject up to 1 cm without being bothered by my own or the camera’s shadow. You can even shoot a snow crystal. Please go to Looking for a new camera, any suggestions? Although I use tg6 now. Unless your purpose is to take landscape photos and see them on a PC with a huge display, this tiny camera seems to have enough features (functions or accessories) for you to shoot insects and CPs. Fighting pose of Prohierodula picta Please watch the below video (2:11-2:31) Kind regards from the Far East
