Hi! I just got my first carnivorous plant, a venus fly trap, which i have affectionately named Peridot after the character in steven universe (see if you can guess why:) I live around St. Louis, and it gets pretty humid here, and we've got tons of bugs in the backyard, so i hope that helps peri grow up strong! (The traps all shut during shipping -- can't wait for them to open!) If I don't accidentally kill peri, I hope to get a few more vfts and a nepenthe. Any tips on growing vfts that y'all'd have would be much appreciated

What are the conditions for the VFT from 1955? Thanks. I live in Charlotte NC and let my plants take the natural route of the four Seasons that we have in NC. They go through dormancy outside with snow or ice covering there substrate. I water my plants everyday. I have a 14 foot bog and three other round bogs. Before summer is gone I will be making half my yard a wild bog. All VFT grow with butterwort utric Sarracenia Drosera and companion plants to CPs. I also have a green house I use for everything else watering everyday. No tray systems for my VFTs. All VFT get full sun. I water the VFT with pond water that has fish and other animals in it. I put pine tree limbs and needles in my pond for acidity. I cycle tap water and pond water. Our water in Charlotte is safe for CPs. Hope that helps. Have a great growing year.
