My name is Kris L., and I have been growing carnivorous plants for around 2 years. Simply to say, I'm hooked I find carnivorous plants to be one of the most fascinating things in our world today. my collection so far consists primarily of the North American pitcher plant Sarracenia, but I also grow several types of Drosera, and Venus Flytraps. I have not, and may never attempt to grow plants such as Cephalotus or Nepenthes. This is because these two species require extremely specific conditions, and require a lot of TLC (tender loving care) lol. It is always good knowing that I am not alone in growing these extremely interesting plants I will try and post pictures of my plants in their current dormancy setup. Over the winter, I place them in my unheated garage, since the temperature here in Louisville loves to change daily.i have shop lights over them, with daylight bulbs. Also, I will try to provide my own helpful input if other people post questions on the forum. Thanks for having me aboard

Hi Kris, Welcome to the forum. Nice starter collection. Careful, the addiction sets in quickly! Cephalotus can be a little fussy, but I wouldn't consider them as difficult as some other plants. It's mostly their watering that you have to learn. With Nepenthes some species are super fussy and do require very specific conditions, but many, many varieties, particularly hybrids of many types are no more difficult to grow than most houseplants. One common N. alata hybrid is sold in garden centers often (we call it deRoose's alata since it comes from DeRoose Plants) is no more complicated than parking it in a sunny window and remembering to water it. Near the bottom of this page is a picture of a Nepenthes sanguinea next to my late cat. www.growcarnivorousplants.com/Articles.asp?ID=266 It was watered when the soil felt dry, and was not in a humid location. The Nepenthes truncata was just in a windowsill too! Jeff Attachments:

Hi Kris and welcome to the forums.
Nice set up. It sounds like you have the bug so to speak and you couldn't do better than to join here, everything you will ever need to know about growing CPs is in the collective knowledge of teh members here.
Good luck and good growing Steve
