I went out to check on the carns here and found a D. burmannii that had popped up in a U. biloba/dichotoma pond pot had made a plantlet on the end of an old inflorescence, I thought this was odd as I was told seed was the only asexual propagation method of D. burmannii, but in all honestly have never tried leaf pulling's before so perhaps I am wrong and this is common. My D. spatulata and D. capensis have done this before, but I was under the impression that like D. prolifera they did it readily.

Well, lets see if you can actually get a separate plant from it...

I think this is the first time I've ever heard of apomixis on a D. burmannii. If you can get it to root you may have a first there....

It may be some interesting genetic material on that plant as to try to propagate it asexually and experiment since D. burmannii from what I have read is a plant almost not possible to propagate in that way (I have never heard a case)

Its still making new leaves, but no roots and the inflorescence is separated from the mother plant, so I guess its going to live.

Well the plant is still going, healthy, eating, and seems to have minute roots (1mm), so I am optimistically going with this worked and Drosera burmannii may a-sexually reproduce, if it occurred in cultivation I have no doubt it occurs in the wild, rare as it may be.

try to propagate those seeds as they may be repeating the process later

I will try and get seed, but with the holidays now on I will be here and there (away) so may not get a chance.

Very nice adelea, I always enjoy seeing someone break the rules. At least inspire their plants to break the rules.
