I have had y nepenthes x. ventrata for about a year now (don't know how old it was after leaving the nursery) and is still producing pitcher about thimble size. Is this expected and when should it start producing "proper" sized pitchers?

Once the plant becomes well rooted, it should grow to larger sizes very fast; make sure the media isn't waterlogged, which could drown the roots, and turn the media anaerobic, which will kill the roots. You might even try to feed the pitchers with a dilute fish emulsion fertilizer, which isn't easy, I've used eye-droppers and even syringes, but it does seem to help promote growth!

Good advice Rich. Telling us your conditions (light, media, humidity, etc) would be a good start

Well i don't really know for the media because i bought it just under "Nepenthes soil" but i think it is German course peat. The light is almost full sun and the humidity is between 40-80%.
