Hello its me again ! Sorry for all the questions but I think this one is pretty important to my success I'm building a raised pond and at one end I want to attach a raised bog garden. This will be a completely separate entity to the pond water and will be a completely contained unit. It will be approx 2metres long and 1metre wide. It can be upto 982mm deep. Here's the question and the problem is I have had a few differing (vastly) answers on how deep the medium should be and what is the optimum water depth with the medium for best results. It will be lined with a pond liner so I can set the water level at what is best advised. Its for sarra's mainly but I may sneak the odd sundew in there. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My best bog garden is sand on the bottom, then 30-40cm peat/sand, and undrained, it gets flooded when it rains and goes dryish in winter, I'm in a tropical climate, thought I'd add that, but an array of sarra's, drosera, utrics and stylidium are happy in it, HINT, I angled it so one end is 5cm higher, this is the drosera end, the other end floods and the sarra/most utrics love it, but drosera (mainly binata, burmanni, indica and capensis) enjoy slightly drier conditions.
In another small bog garden however I had an issue with heavy rain washing soil away, the answer was to place a 2cm spag layer than a 3cm sand layer, now there is no problem, I also rocked my main bog and have planted ferns and ground orchids to keep the soil cooler and to create a decorative feature from it.
