Hi! I just got a u. Gibba at California carnivores. I want it to flower. So don't I have to use a substrate? If so can ou tell me what mix it is?

this is an aquatic, just drop it in a shallow water tray and it should thrive, mine grow happily in my Sarracenia lagoons..

Hi bleshboy, I grow my Gibba in a few ways, the first is in small aquariums with 3-5cm of peat at the bottom then 2-4cm of sand to hold it down, after this i have a fluctuating water table of 15-20cm, this produces healthy plants, but they don't flower often unless i move them into several hours of full sun, another way is in a slurry, peat and sand or spag is even better, This species is wild here and can tolerate full sun all day providing the water temp stays below 40-45C and above 4-8c for tropical varients, but there are aslo temperate varients that tolerate much colder conditons.
