We have gotten away from peat in our Nep mix, and only use sphagnum for those species liking very wet conditions-bicalcarata and mirabilis echinostoma. Even with those two species, the sphagnum is about 50 percent. Our Vikings grow in Corbitt Cypress Mulch, perlite, sponge rock, and a small bit of milled sphagnum. Very rapidly draining-and they love it.
