Hi Coline, As I was sort of the host of this event (The Dutch society set this up)perhaps I can answer this question a little better than Alexander but I'm sure he will add to my answer where needed Carniflora is one of the largest commercial CP nurseries in Europe, perhaps even the world. Some plants are grown from seeds but most are produced in TC at specialist providers. The product of these providers are grown on by Carniflora. The plants are standing in metal tables and are fed by misting. The tables can move so people can get inbetween. Part of the production is sold on orders. If a order is received in the office a computer generates a list and people start pickig the order. Plants are put in plastic preshaped trays and put on special carts. These carts are loaded on trucks. The rest of the plants are sold throufg the flower auction. This auction is run by the growers and wholesellers buy the plants by punching a button at a price clock that is counting down. Look here for more info, it is quite interesting and even a tourist attraction: www.floraholland.com/en/Main destenations for these mostly commercial varieties are gardencentres, DIY stores and all in one warehouses like the US Wallmart. Costumers are all over Europe and even outside on occasions though that requires extra paperwork that shipment within the European union doesn't need.

Very interesting Marcel, even more to know more about that system. I have seen it only once, in an orchid farm here, in a 500m square greenhouse where they had the moving table system, I want to try it on a future, when I make my decent big greenhouse (actual size 15m!). I've seen the flower auctions on discovery! almost crazy for how good they are, just a glimpse but they are really nice! Thanks for the information!
