I've had these planted for a week, It's my first terrarium and also my first experiment in carnivorous plants besides Dionaea. They seem to be doing alright but all of the leaves on the flytrap have turned black and died except the one new sprout, also the sarracenia pupurea has a brown bit developing on it's largest pitcher towards the sun and it's no longer waxy on that brown bit. They all seem to have new growth since I've planted them so I must be doing something right. I got the drosera spatulata as a "bonus plant" I don't know as much about them. I have a question though, I'm not sure where I stand on the issue of light and temperature. Right now I have it on a western facing window, which is my only window facing in this apartment. It's getting about seven hours of sunlight a day and I'm not sure if that's too much or not enough. The plants are from a nursery and I'm not sure what light they used. The green sphagnum I planted just looks dead and hasn't changed since I planted it. The red sphagnum looks a little better, or are they both equally dead? I can't tell. Will the new growth adapt to this light or should I begin filtering it? What should I filter it it with? Should I get a grow light? If so what kind, what intensity? How long should it take for the plants to adapt to their new environment?

Well, they are only 1 week from planted, we need to wait 2-3 weeks to see if more light is needed, meanwhile, read about what lighting these plants need in case you need to add some.

A terrarium in a west-facing window in direct sun can get very hot inside. It could be that you are baking your plants in an oven. Take a temperature measurement.
