Yes, I know the product Peter. Carnivora, the Dutch CPS had some hate-mail from them about our name. Luckily we are much older and named after an even older (and registered) nursery.
As for the product itself: I did some research when they were jabbing and the conclusion at that time was that a)there is absolutely no scientific evidence that it does anything that the producer claims. b) It is not accepted as a medication in the USA and the food & Drugs guys even prohibited it from sale.
To the best of my knowledge this status hasn't changed since I looked at it. Anyone know more or has other information?

Even if I took their own claims of what it contains, I wouldn't want to take the stuff. Formic acid is the end metabolite of methanol and is responsible for its toxicity. Even in our dysfunctional government they probably wouldn't have to look further than the label to deny approval.

I will certainly not defend this product but just saying it is bad because of formic acid is a bit of a jump to conclusions. Many medicinally used product are toxic in the wrong concentration and even everyday food items can be deadly. For instance using to much nutmeg can have some nasty effects. Formic acid was used as an antibacterial additive in animal foods for decades until they found something better.

Formic acid in anything but high concentrations is harmless and is actually still used in hundreds of commercial/industrial applications today. I wouldn't jump to describe this product as a gimmick, however I'm certainly dubious about its effectiveness as an immuno-supporter as claimed. The site specifies that oral toxicity studies prove it to be non-toxic, however they don't provide any similar studies which indicate it provides the immune system effects they claim. It also seems to be a fairly well known and contentious product: voices.yahoo.com/can-carnivora-cure-cancer-radio-ads-all-hype-11271576.htmlThe disclaimer on their website reads: "These statements have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Individuals should seek advice concerning supplements and diets from physicians, health-care providers, and certified dieticians". Enough said.

What I see on the product is an excess of propaganda, using the image of the popular VFT, they use the "mithic" ability of the plant to capture prey for the people to buy it. Also, reffering to the "all natural" qualities of the product, it may be fully true, but that is made so that people that really hate chemicals buy it. Then, they use all the amino acids (many of them) as more propaganda to fill in space in their announcement... any piece of meat, even soybean has those same amino acids... They use none less than 8 amino acids as propaganda. Proteases, they are even more protein, they are disabled by the acidic conditions of the stomach and the enzimes produced by bacteria and the bodies' organs. The first 5 products mentioned may be the only which have Some benefitial activity, that is all about it.
