I recently got 7 N. ventricosa sprouts on seeds planted 11/23/2012 from the seedbank. They are quite cute.

Congrats! I recently got 7 N. ventricosa sprouts on seeds planted 11/23/2012 from the seedbank. They are quite cute. Nice im looking foward for the pictures ! Hehe yea its so cute at this stage, littles monsters You are from texas? Im a dallas stars fan But no NHL this year !

Wow! they really grow fast! Maiden, how much time would you expect a ventricosa seedling like this will take to grow to the 2$ canadian coin size?

N. ventricosa can reach 2inches or so across in about 2 years.

There are species that take a decade from seed to reach a diameter of five inches. Growing Nepenthes from seed is not for the impatient.

Yep, these are slow growing plants. "fast" for a nep is pretty slow for most other plants.

Yes, the seedling state of all plants is really slow! they then somehow make a boom in growht after a critical size, its interesting. For nepenthes, that is why I'm in tissue culture, I've already placed seed and tissue to see how it goes. The ventricosa are going the traditional way to see and learn it.
