Here is a photo progression of the tallest Sarracenia I have produced to date. In planning this hybrid back in 2006 I selected parents carefully for their respective genetics: a very dark purple S. flava var. rubricorpora for the colour component and a very tall S. leucophylla (1m) for the height factor. The specimen is grown outdoors, in a peat/pumice medium and I don't use fertiliser on any of my plants. As you can see from the photos, the growth the clone produced in each 24hr period was remarkable. Once it finally opened the unfurling of the hood brought the finished height down slightly to a still prodigious 1230mm (1.23m or 48.42 inches). Measurements are taken from the soil surface. In this next photo you can see it, pre opening, towering above everything else in the display box it is growing in. And, here it is fully opened.

That thing is amazing! I need to figure out how to get plants that size. I notice the rubricorpora pattern comes out more than the leucophylla pattern does. Is this because you used rubricorpora as the seed parent, or was leuco the seed parent?

Is this because you used rubricorpora as the seed parent, or was leuco the seed parent? S.flava var. rubricorpora x leucophylla. The flava is the seed parent which is likely influential in the colouration. Additionally, this clone produces only one, sometimes two, pitchers per rhizome growth point as is typical with S.flava var. rubricorpora. I selected the leucophylla pollen parent specimen for its height. The result achieved both things. Having said that, other clones from the experiment have varying degrees of these features in combination. Here is a view of the clone in question from above. The influence from the S.leucophylla can be seen across the surface of the undulating hood.

Very nice! Im thinking of creating my own moorei this spring and im going to use a HCW leuco and flava rubricorpora. Do you think the hybrid would look better if I used the leuco or flava as the pollen parent?

Hybridising is always essentially an experiment. Why not isolate flowers from both parents if possible and go both ways.
There are zillions of hybrids out there but, in my view, to get really good ones the fundamental things is to calculate carefully what any given parents will deliver in terms of a projected out come.
