I received what I believe to be a tropical pitcher plant as a gift. Was purchased at a "monthly market". No ready way to contact the seller. Photo links below. Any idea what genus (right term?) of plant it might be. www.wwtech.com/nepenthes-1.jpgwww.wwtech.com/nepenthes-2.jpgPlant has grown incredibly well since May of this year when received. I'm wondering about things such as: dormancy / where to keep and how to care for during the winter (I'm in North Texas, can get pretty cold here). Also, things like re-potting to a larger planter; possibility of splitting / dividing plant into additional plants; .etc. But first step is finding out what genus I have so I can then research in more detail. Plant has readily created new pitchers. However, older, larger pitchers seem to be drying up / withering some. Is this normal? I've ordered "The Savage Garden" book --- heard it was good. Any other suggestions for reading material? Thanks!

I now know, thanks to adamcross that Nepenthes is the genus (which I have) and I'm interested in knowing the particular species within the genus.

Nepenthes x ventrata if you ask me. Common garden center hybrid and quite easy to grow.
