Hey everyone, I was wondering what fungicides you use and in what concentrations. Particulalrly when propagating.

Whatever you make use of, please follow the manufacturers recommended dilutions. Fiddling with this may lead down the path to target organisms developing resistance.

Okay, I decided to try out Physan 20. Reason; Peter D'Amato sells it, so it must be good. If I have any results which are compelling, I will post here about it.

If I have any results which are compelling, I will post here about it. physan 20 isn't really a fungicide, well at least in the sense I would try and treat an infected plant. It can do wonders keeping growth down in reservoirs, and as a preventive, but it's horrible for actual treatment

I wanted to chime in on this. Physan is a quaternary ammonium compound, a type of disinfectant. As BrotherlyMonkey mentioned it's good for cleaning, and prevention, but caution should be used when using it on plants since it is also oxidative. We lost a batch of Mexican butterworts a few years ago using a similar product. It seems safer on tougher plants such as Sarracenia. We actually did a podcast on fungicides earlier this year on both fungicides and insecticides based on our experiences here at the nursery.

Thanks guys, I will check out that video. Do you have any favorites at this time? I am still looking around for a fungicide to use- particularly when taking cuttings of many types of plants, not just CPs.

Hey Jeff, I just watched both the video on insecticides and the one on fungicides. Thank you for providing these!
The only question that popped up in my mind is whether you have noticed any interactions between products. IE is it safe to use both a fungicide and a systemic insecticide simultaneously? (Not that I plan to do so anytime soon but it would be good to know)

I think it would be okay to use low concentrations of fungicide and insecticide simultaneously as long as they do not affect the plant directly.

I think it would be okay to use low concentrations of fungicide and insecticide simultaneously as long as they do not affect the plant directly. That's either tautological or a truism, I can't quite decide which. I'd be more concerned about the potential effect upon the person applying the concoction.
