Hello, this question has been bouncing around in my head for quite some time. I was just wondering what would happen if you were to cross pollinate, let's say, a venus fly trap and a sundew. What would the outcome be? Is this even possible?

Dionaea and Drosera are of different families, they cannot be hybridized. In the same way that dogs and cats cannot.

Let's be a bit more precise taxonomically. Drosera and Dionaea are actually in the same Family: Droseraceae. But, they are in different Genera. Whereas, cats and dogs are in different Families: Felidae and Canidae. For an interesting discussion, see www.carnivorousplants.org/cp/EvolutionDrosera.phpDrosera regia and Dionaea/ Aldrovanda are somewhat close relatives. So, with a bit of DNA manipulation, perhaps you might create a Franken-dew.
