I have just ordered a product called Mycostop, which is supposed to control many root-attacking fungi. Has anyone tried this stuff with cp? I found and skimmed several research papers which concluded that it was effective and even increased plant vigor in numerous garden plants. It is, I gather, the spores and mycelial fragments of a fungi which beneficially affects roots for a wide range of plant species. To boot it is considered pretty much harmless to people and is supposed to be effective against damping off fungi. There was also a statement I read which claimed it liked peat. I would be very interested in others' experiences with this product and would be happy to relate mine, after I've tried it, if anyone else is interested. Here's a link to the vendor I used and the product info: www.planetnatural.com/site/mycostop-fungicide.html?id=PIJSe49t:174.25.177.176 - Mark

According to the Verdera web site, it "Contains a naturally occuring bacterial strain isolated from Sphagnum peat." and so it may well be present in your media mixes by default anyway.
It will be extremely difficult to assess whether or not there is any effect from this type of product.

Okay, it seems CPs have nonmycorrhizal roots. Myco will not colonize them, at least as far as I can find. mycorrhizas.info/nmplants.html#nmlistGo down the list to droseraceae on the NM list

I once purchased a vial of this product. I used it on several pots of plants, I saw no harmful effects, but did not notice any obvious beneficial effects, either.

Thanks, everybody! Such a quick quantity of information!
Since the stuff is already on the way, and since it sounds at least harmless, I will try it in my terrarium anyway. I am expecting no effect but if it can't hurt... At the least it may be good for my non-carnivorous houseplants.
'Very interesting that carnivores are non-mycorrhizal. It does make sense, though.
