LA Time published an article on on the plight of carnivorous plant populations in the US, featuring ICPS volunteer Barry Rice. www.latimes.com/news/science/la-sci-carni-plants-20100908,0,2083547,full.story Can you take a moment and sign our Thank You Letter to Amina Khan, of the LA Times, for bringing carnivorous plant conservation to the public's attention? www.petitiononline.com/1r2j3v4z/petition.html The whole idea is to show support for carnivorous plant journalism and add grease to the elbows of journalists and newspaper editors who support CP conservation. Every signature counts. Our goal is at least 100 signatures, so far we have 13. I know we can do better. Can you sign and represent? Thank You! www.petitiononline.com/1r2j3v4z/petition.htmlP.S. Sharing the link with others helps keep the momentum going! Thanks again. Ken Collins ICPS Facebook admin

This is kinda funny. This petition post has been viewed 99 times but only 20 people have sign it. I'm laughing on the outside but crying on the inside. Anything less than a hundred signatures is embarrassing.
Maybe I'll post a link to this petition on some CP Facebook fan pages. Any other suggestions? Thanks -Ken

I've just signed - i dragged a few friends - plant lovers - up there and we searched and searched - until out of desperation, I kept pushing on and we found them. Even the old hunter who came along for the ride was blown away when he saw them - he kept smiling saying they were the damnedest things he ever - before TOTAL sarcasm while lost in the woods. Sadly - it looks like nature, not man crowding them out - the plants on the floor were yellow with red spots and compact - thinned out however plants in the ravine ditches on the side of the road were thick and numerous - (talk about your cobras nest!) but in shade and pretty heavy at that, tall and the windows were larger than normal, no doubt from the shade. I took pictures and will have to post soon - there were no holes THANKFULLY from digging - the place does have a REALLY CREEPY feeling there - found out later that Keddie murders happened close by. However, to sum it up, the 4 of us were truly humbled by nature. Growing carnivores is a fulfilling and rewarding experience, to find them in the wild DIVINE and I don't use that word much. It really made me feel protective to wards this area....PLEASE KEEP IT SAFE!!!
