looking for a possible live sphagnum donation to a new grower. Not looking for alot but just enough to get me going.
I have been growing neps for about a year now and I would love to start growing and using live sphagnum. My plants came in various mixes but none have any live sphagnum for me to get a replenishable supply for my little garden.
I've read about starting out and taking cuttings which then get put into a peat moss filled basin about 12 inches deep after cutting the strips into 1-2 inch sections. Then I want to put a thin layer of mulch or peat atop it to keep moisture in without bloccking light. I'v heard some people cover the tub with clear plastic but my little terrarium should keep humidity high enough.
Did I miss any key steps?

You missed one important key step. This forum is different from other forums and the CP listserv in that here we do not allow sales, trading, auctions, requests for freebies, etc. We do have an Approved Sales area that is discussed here: icps.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sales&action=display&thread=3849The reasons for this policy have been discussed elsewhere, but the short version is: ICPS is an international society and forum. We have members from all over the world. Because of this and because we do not want to encourage international trading without proper paperwork, listing of sources, either of commercial or amateur growers, would have to be country specific. That is why we decided to suggest that ICPS Forum members also join a local forum which encourages trading listed at icps.proboards105.com/index.cgi?b....read=1176252614or local CP societies listed at icps.proboards105.com/index.cgi?b....read=1174412663

I apologize and the only reason I didn't put it in the sales section is because I was hoping there would be someone stateside that would be willing to donate some, not sell it. I did not mean to break policy, thank you very much for the links and quick explanation Bob
