Lately I've been growing a few non-carnivorous aquatic plants in big ceramic containers. I'm thinking about setting up a "mini-pond" with some water hyacinth, because I have heard that the plant is good at removing contaminants from water. My hope is that I can put regular tap water in the hyacinth container, wait a few days, and then use the water for my carnivores. Has anyone tried this?
I realize water hyacinth in a noxious weed, so I would never dump it in a body of water. And I wouldn't grow it in the same container as carnivore, probably.
