What is the most effective bait out there?!! The night before last, I'm outside looking over everyone, and I see one of the pitchers just bending back and forth on it's own - the moths at night love to get out there, so as I get closer there's this fat little nugget rat chewing up the side of a x moorei so I smack the rodent off - I go out there next evening with rat trap and peanut butter, only to wake up today and find the peanut butter untouched and two fat pitchers on the same plant gutted!!...... >:(WAR!! I think they are ground rats, but it really doesn't matter because they need to die - we do have pets but are VERY careful when it comes to them. Suggestions?? Thank you. It seems like they are hitting only one area, I'm moving the moorei, since 5 pitchers have all ready been shredded, and the peanut butter in question was right next to the moorei.

I had a big chipmunk issue 3 yrs ago ...they ate most of my rhizomes....so I went all out protecting my bog. See the photobucket link: s804.photobucket.com/albums/yy321/mrobey/MattBog/I keep the netting on top during growing season. Between the water levels, window sashes and netting, only insects can get in! Matt in CT

Ive found that for Mice baiting the trap with cotton balls saturated with peanut butter works for the Dumb ones. They try to get the PB off but it gets stuck in their teeth before they can eat it all . Mind this was for mice not rats. I'll ask my neighbor who owns a pest service. The enclosure with netting sounds like the easiest/fastest though. Best of luck
