Hello to all,
I was pleased to be present at the official opening of the carnivorous plant photo exhibition with the title
"Carnivorous Plants and Their Biotopes". The exhibition is held in the Botanical Garden, Liberec, Czech Republic. (see www.botaniliberec.cz/angl-index.php).
It features numerous commented large-scale photographs of carnivorous plants in their natural habitats.
These photographs were taken by renowned photographers, e.g. Barry Rice, Stewart McPherson, Thomas Carow, Miloslav
Studnièka etc. The exhibition poster is here www.botaniliberec.cz/img/4baddbbf45963.jpg.
There is available an exhibition catalogue which is in fact a normal book. It is essentially a large album of
excellent photographs, many being presented for the first time, which are heavily commented by Dr.Studnicka.
The book is fully bilingual - the whole text is both in Czech and English language.
Some brief details:
Miloslav Studnièka, Jan Franta, Martin Spousta (eds.) "Masožravé rostliny a jejich bydlištì" / "Carnivorous Plants and Their Biotopes"Botanical Garden Liberec, Liberec, Czech Republic, 2010.
ISBN 978-80-254-6775-6, softcover
184 pp., more than 160 photos, text in Czech and English
!!! Printed were only 500 copies !!!
More details can be seen here ivo.koudela.sweb.cz/items/Studnicka_Biotopes.html
Update as of the end of June: I've just spoken with the authors. There seems to be only less then 100 copies left! BTW, the exhibition has an enormous success - it was visited by 22.000 people within 3 months so it was prolonged until the end of August...
Regards,
Ivo
