I was wondering about the feasibility of using some kind of genetic analysis to determine the parentage of Sarracenia hybrids (unknown ones, obviously). Is it even possible? I have to claim ignorance in the field, but my wife is a botany professor and we have discussed doing something, since I have amassed a decent-sized collection, with a lot of "unknowns".
I didn't seem to really find anything doing a google search, it seems the only genetic work that's been done was just looking at genetic diversity within & between species.

Look up DNA or genetic barcoding. This technique works well with animal genes and is being studied for use with plants. The problem with plants is that the genetic structure can be terribly complicated.
Pyro can probably give as a lot more insight into this since he does DNA sequencing for a living.
