Does anyone know if this cultivar goes by any other names (official or not)? Or cultivars that share this characteristic? I only found a single picture on the cpphotofinder. I have a plant in my collection that look exactly like the picture, but I'm sure I didn't purchase it as "Red Bands"

As you note "Red Bands" is not an official cultivar name. Although Barry's photo is very nice, it is not unusual for VFTs to occasionally have a red band as shown in his photo. The characteristic seems to come and go on the same plant with different traps and from year to year. If you post photos of your plant, I will be happy to add them to the CP Photo Finder.

Various Venus Flytraps have been sold and traded for that particular characteristic, and given names such as "Banded" or "Red Line." However, as Bob mentioned, many Venus Flytraps can and sometimes do exhibit that deep red color near or at the margin on the outside of the trap lobes, but rarely and seemingly purely at their whim; it's not a dependable characteristic. :-)

I'm not so sure. Some clones are very reliable in producing the red stripe on every trap. Or at least as long as they're getting plenty of sun.

My experience is the same as Bob's and Steve's. I've seen it on quite a few plants, but I've never seen it with any kind of reliability unless I'm growing the plants under fluorescent lights. What clone is it that you've seen the red line reliably produced on Alexis? (Something else to add to my wish list )

My vfts get about 8 hrs direct sun, and some typical and some dente traps have the red bands. But not all traps on the same plant have them. The G16 is nice!

This means you can post any of your personal photos. If you want to post photos owned by someone else, you need to get permission from the owner.
This essentially means you will not violate copyright or post photos that are obscene or offensive.
