Would it be possible to implement this? Would facilitate communication among members...

I am not sure what you are asking. In your Profile you can add your AIM, ILQ, YIM, and MSN Instant Message addresses. In addition, you can send a Personal Message (PM) to any member or group of members. It is possible for us to add a Live Chat Room to the Forum, but we have not yet discussed whether we want to make that feature available.

The problem with a live room is nobody will probobly use it unless there are meeting "times". The CPUK chatroom is an example.

Even if there is meeting times, it would be nice if there could be a transcript somewhere. It would be a shame to miss a lot of information, or have no way of looking back to it.

you do have a point and a sticky post to remind people to use it and you would auto login when you log on to the forum unlike the cpuk forum where you have to singin sperately.

i think that there should be a chat room for people to use, but like jm82792 said there should also be a scheduled times for discussing certain things and the other time that isnt scheduled for a specific topic then it could be used for free chat among members.
