I'd be interested in a forum regarding germination results from ICPS Seed bank seeds. My Drosera macrantha seeds never germinated - so was it just me or did others have great results? My Nepenthes madagascarensis seed germinated but they all eventually damped off - was it just me or did everyone have problems? How about identification observations on the seedlings? Did some prove to be hybrids when grown out? These kind of questions/topics are relevant to seed lots, and are usually not covered on the Seedbank FAQ pages devoted to species (but I do appreciate the identification notes offered there about name changes for past seed offered from the Seed bank).

Howdy,
I have sown and grown the D. macrantha from seeds I received through the ICPS seed bank and will warn you that it takes some patience. It was around 14 months before I saw any germination, so sow them and set them in the back corner for a year before you start looking for results.
Good luck & Cheers Pete

My Nepenthes madagascarensis seed I got from the ICPS a while ago germinated, some are now about 4-5 inches across.

Many CP seeds are tricky to germinate. Please read the pages on the Seed Bank web site and at least consider believing what they say. The most difficult are the tuberous sundews. They germinate when they get the right cues and don't when they don't. period. The Sarracenia and Drosera that say they require cold stratification do require cold stratification.
The most troublesome seed are Nepenthes and certain Pinguicula. The seeds don't remain viable long. The seeds seem to be killed by cold temperatures and some by too long in dry air. I have gotten very fresh seed from very knowledgeable growers and gotten no germination.

The ICPS Seed Bank is a member seed exchange. It the conduit for members to get seeds to other members. I get in large and small lots of seeds. Sometimes members will send me 6 packets at a time. The kinds of things you are asking about are good ideas in general but really only apply to commercial seed production and for-profit companies. Unless of course you want to volunteer to provide this service for other members.

Can you use GA3 to stratifie seeds? If yes I could buy some and post up some results.
