The newest arrivals to my VFT collection are very colorful. These are from my local Home Depot. They look outstanding in their new pots. Especially next to the pale ones that I got from Home Depot a couple weeks ago. And of course, my favorite colored variety Akai Ryu. This one, sold as small stock is still very petite. I guess that is the real issue; where to put them all. It's hard not to collect too many. On the up side, they will make great gifts. ;D

Good looking plants! Those Bloomrite plants sure are colored up nicely. Those were the first plants I bought (as an adult) and I was enamored with their deep red traps.

Thanks mmlr38,
It's fun finding CPs in stores and strip malls, gathering specimens from the suburban landscape. I'm still looking for Cobra Lillies. I have seen them in the past. All the local nurseries are quite willing to order for you, but I like finding them in odd places when I'm out and about.
You mentioned 'Bloomrite plants'. I hope they will color up nicely next year. Do you think the nurseries use/do something to enhance the growth and color prior to shipping? I transplanted the entire peat plug it was potted in. The roots were curled completely around the bottom of their pots, (plastic prisons). I posted a series of pics this morning, a re-potting demonstration, in the Dionea section. I got the 'Click on thumbnail to view larger image' thing working pretty well. Q: What's more fun than looking at your CPs? A: Taking pictures of your CPs. Q: My Windows 7 Desktop Slide Show? A: All my favorite pictures of my CPs.
I have another bog bowl planned for next year: VFTs, sundews and pitchers (S. purpurea). Happy growing, MT.

I'm not sure how Bloomrite gets the good color in their plants. I know that if you grow them in pure peat, they get redder. Also, under strong fluorescent lighting they color up really well. My guess is that Bloomrite is doing both those things prior to shipping their plants.
