Hi Friends, Here's some lovely photos of a Sarracenia cultivar given to me by a good friend some time back... (thanks again!) To my knowledge, this one hasn't been circulated in cultivation. I'm anxiously awaiting Spring for the hybridizing opportunities that await! Introducing, S. 'Belly of Blood'; Happy Growing, Brian.

Hi Brian,
Very nice plant.
When I was in Virginia, I saw several populations of venosa that had heavy veining that coalesced at the "belly" of the pitcher. They looked quite similar to the plant you've shown.
Is this as red as the "belly" gets or would you expect more so in full sun?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken, Yes, that's pretty much as red as it gets... Regardless of light intensity, it will still retain the heavy veining on the belly and the pale "electric" green lid and veining. So far, it has never turned completely red, even in our blasting tropical Florida sun. If anything, it seems as if the greens take on more of a bright "electric" nature when grown in full sun, with the veining remaining the same! Happy Growing, Brian
